What we repair
Six machines, repaired in your home
Sticking to six machines keeps the right valves, pumps and igniters on the shelves of our trucks. Whether yours stands by the stove, beside the floor drain or out past the car, we bring the repair to it.
Dryer RepairCold towels after an hour, a second round needed, roller squeal or a stop mid-load. Gas or electric, we read the fuse, heater coil or igniter on a meter, then trace the vent outside to the hood.Details
Washer RepairWashers of both styles stuck full of water, refusing to spin, dripping from a torn boot or dancing across the basement floor. Drain pumps, lid switches, bearings and suspension rods are the usual suspects.Details
Refrigerator and Freezer RepairRefrigerators and freezers, including the old unit in the garage and the chest freezer downstairs. Warm fresh-food sections, frosted coils, failed defrost heaters, noisy evaporator fans and leaks under the crisper drawers.Details
Dishwasher RepairDishwashers with a puddle left in the bottom, glasses gone cloudy or plates still gritty. We clear the drain pump and filter, meter the heating element and check spray arm jets for scale.Details
Oven and Range RepairRanges on gas or electric, plus wall ovens and cooktops of glass or induction. Ovens stuck short of temperature, burners that tick and never catch, or a bake element split down the middle.Details
Ice Maker RepairIce makers inside the freezer compartment or the refrigerator door. Hollow cubes, no cubes, a fill tube iced shut or an inlet valve crusted with scale, traced one part at a time.Details
How the money works
How the money works
The $89 diagnostic visit
The technician measures, names the worn or broken part, and explains what it means for the machine. Agree to the fix, and that $89 hides inside its total rather than riding on top. A no means you hand over $89 and the technician packs up.
A single figure on paper
You read the number, on paper or on your phone, while every panel is still screwed on, and it covers the whole job. It does not climb halfway through, and nothing gets tacked on once the work has started.
When a part has to ship
Common parts ride along in the truck, so the typical repair is done before the technician leaves. An odd part gets ordered and we book the return as soon as the box arrives, and that second trip leaves the approved written price exactly where it was.
Repair or replace
Repair it or replace it?
Some machines deserve a new part and some have earned retirement. Our repair-or-replace guides walk through each of the six machines: what tends to wear out, what is worth fixing and when the technician will tell you to stop spending on it.

Minnesota houses
How Minnesota seasons and tap water wear on machines
A Twin Cities January tests every machine in the house. Nights below zero leave garage refrigerators and chest freezers misreading the season: the thermostat feels cold air, the compressor rests, and the frozen food slowly softens. Dryer vent hoods frost shut or vanish under a drift, so loads drag on and the thermal fuse pays for it. Dry indoor air cracks old door gaskets. Then July arrives with humid days in the 80s and 90s, sweating refrigerator cabinets, musty front-load door boots and thunderstorms that flicker the power and strain control boards. Water matters too. Homes on softened St. Paul water need less detergent than most people use, or suds and film follow. In Shoreview, hard well water crusts dishwasher elements, spray arm jets and ice maker valves with scale.
Garage units in January
A refrigerator in an unheated garage can stop cooling the freezer once the garage drops below freezing. We check the thermostat, the compressor and the gaskets, and tell you plainly whether that spot suits the machine.
Softened or hard water
Softened St. Paul water reaches Roseville, Maplewood, Falcon Heights, Little Canada and Arden Hills, where extra detergent turns into suds. Shoreview’s wells deliver hard water that leaves scale on elements and inlet screens.
Summer storms and humidity
A thunderstorm that blinks the lights can leave a washer or range control board confused or dead. Humid weeks bring sweating refrigerator cabinets and front-load door boots that smell like a damp basement.
Questions
Questions people ask first
How soon can a technician come out?
In most cases, the same day. From Monday to Saturday, between 8 in the morning and 7 at night, we keep same-day openings for all six kinds of machine on our list. Cold-storage trouble still outranks the rest: tell us the freezer is softening or the refrigerator reads warm, and it gets first pick of the day’s openings. Your two-hour arrival window shows up by text. Weekdays tough? Saturday works the same way, and we close on Sundays.
What does the $89 diagnostic cover?
It covers the trip, the testing and a clear explanation. The technician checks the machine with a meter, finds the part that failed and tells you what it is in everyday language. Going ahead rolls the $89 into the written repair figure; stopping there means $89 settles the whole visit. Need a second machine checked while the technician is already in the house? That one’s diagnostic is $10 less.
Will you look at a microwave, furnace or water heater?
Those fall outside our work. The six we repair: cold storage, meaning a refrigerator or freezer plus any ice maker built in, then both laundry machines, dishwashers, and the range along with its oven and cooktop. Furnaces, water heaters, softeners, disposals, wine coolers, microwaves and standalone ice machines stay off the list, along with commercial equipment. A narrow list keeps the truck stocked for the machines we do fix.
Which brands do you work on?
Most of what we open carries a Whirlpool, Maytag, GE or LG badge. Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Bosch, Electrolux, Kenmore, Amana, Café and Speed Queen come up regularly as well, and Samsung is welcome when the badge sits on a laundry pair, a dishwasher or a range. Still young enough for the maker’s warranty? Then we mention it during the call, ahead of booking, so the coverage gets used.
Will you tell me if my appliance is not worth fixing?
Yes. After testing, the technician walks you through the failed part and anything else showing wear, then gives a clear opinion on whether a machine of that age and condition deserves the money. If replacing it is the smarter move, you pay only for the $89 visit and leave with the facts you need to shop.
I rent my place in St. Paul. Can I still book?
Yes, and many of our St. Paul calls come from duplexes and rentals. Tell us who owns the unit when you book. Once the diagnosis is in, the landlord or manager gets our figure in a text, and work begins once they answer yes. All you need to do is open the door.
Request a visit
Name the machine, describe the trouble and give us the address. A two-hour window comes back by text, often for that same day. If the refrigerator is warm, mention it and it moves to the front. First repair with us? Tick the box, and the quote will knock up to $15 from the repair price itself, never from the $89. The $89 diagnosis is never an extra on top of the repair: approving puts it inside the written figure, while declining stops the bill at an even $89. Never worked with us before? Expect up to $15 to come off your first repair, with the job’s scope setting the figure the technician writes down, and that reduction comes out of the repair rather than the visit.
